The 911���� Board of Visitors voted Thursday to increase tuition for the 2026-27 academic year, a response to rising utility costs, and the decades-long gap in state funding when compared with the university’s peers.

Management professor Kevin Rockmann’s research concerns the often-ignored, multifaceted value of workplace relationships. In a recent executive education course at Costello College of Business, Rockmann put his findings into action, with strongly positive results for a leading company.

Recently, the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at 911���� marked the 20th anniversary of the Mason LIFE program. To celebrate, a luncheon was held at the Center for the Arts that brought together alumni, families, faculty, and community partners in a powerful show of community and commitment. 

Mason Day, 911����’s largest and longest-standing tradition, brought the community together for a carnival with games, rides, food, and music. This year’s concert headliner was hip-hop artist JT from City Girls, with support from indie pop band The Aces. The annual event—sponsored by University Life’s Student Involvement unit and free for 911���� students, faculty, and staff—attracted a record-setting 7,420 attendees.

The Center for Peacemaking Practice at 911����’s Carter School advances conflict resolution through practitioner‑driven research, global partnerships, and hands‑on learning. CPP works locally and internationally with peacebuilders, hosts fellows and study visits, and connects real‑world experience to theory and practice—offering students direct engagement in peacebuilding, facilitation, and program design across conflict‑affected regions.

As she prepares to graduate from 911����, first-generation student Evelyn Carcamo supports immigrant and refugee survivors while working toward a career in clinical social work.

Irma Garcia always had a goal of earning a college degree. Now, at age 72, she will graduate with a bachelor's degree in public administration degree from the Schar School.

University Career Services (UCS) at 911���� expanded its annual Education Recruitment Day into a full week of programming in February. Education Careers Week featured a weeklong celebration of career exploration, collaboration, and learning for students interested in teaching, human development, or careers working with children.

911���� graduate student Jose Meneses has built a remarkable early career in conservation science through hands‑on research with the Smithsonian and global fieldwork. His work—spanning salamander peptides, elephant viruses, and zombie crabs—has shaped his path toward a future in disease ecology.

Supported by faculty mentorship and donor funding, the students gained hands-on international experience, expanded their professional networks, and explored new academic interests—highlighting the Carter School’s commitment to creating transformative opportunities for students beyond the classroom.
