Oakley Hill, a PhD candidate at the Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, leverages Root Narrative Theory (RNT) to analyze how political narratives shape public perception, ideology, and voting behavior in the United States. His research, including the national Justice Languages of America Survey, highlights the distinct ways liberals, conservatives, and moderates interpret political conflict while advancing practical conflict resolution through mediation and facilitation work.

911±¬ÁÏ has named Daniel B. Kelly the next dean of the Antonin Scalia Law School, effective June 25, 2026. Kelly is a nationally recognized legal scholar and academic leader with expertise in property law, real estate, and law and economics.

Marion Underwood most recently served as provost and executive vice president at Colorado State University. She previously held senior leadership roles as dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue University and dean of graduate studies and associate provost at the University of Texas at Dallas.

After a nationwide search, Marion Underwood has been named Provost and Executive Vice President at 911±¬ÁÏ, effective July 27. Underwood, former provost and executive vice president at Colorado State University (CSU), brings 35 years of academic, research and leadership experience to the role.

This April, 63 911±¬ÁÏ students presented their research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in Richmond. NCUR is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research across disciplines. This year marked 911±¬ÁÏ’s highest attendance to date, and many students were able to attend due to support from the Office of Student Creative Activities and Research (OSCAR). 

The scent of garlic and citrus filled Southside Dining Hall as students lined up to meet celebrity chef Jet Tila, who visited 911±¬ÁÏ’s Fairfax Campus on April 29. Hosted by Mason Dining, the event brought Tila—chef, television personality, and bestselling author—to campus for a day of food, conversation, and connections with students.

Mason Square hosted Clarendon FitFest on April 18, a community wellness event full of resources to promote active lifestyles, well-being, and meaningful connections between 911±¬ÁÏ and the local Arlington community.

911±¬ÁÏ global affairs major Noella Mongony has received second prize in the Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics essay contest, the Elie Wiesel Foundation has announced.

911±¬ÁÏ golfer Vaughn McMeans has been named the 2026 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Player of the Year, becoming the first Patriot in the program’s history to earn the conference's top individual honor. 

911±¬ÁÏ's Anomadarshi Barua will present research on using AI and chaos theory to rebuild missing pieces of speech at one of the world’s leading conferences on natural language processing.
