911±¬ÁÏ researchers are coming up with a variety of ways to improve people’s lives.

911±¬ÁÏ baseball alum South Trimble, BS Business ’23, and current graduate student Danny Hosley took the field in front of a sold-out crowd as part of the Banana Ball World Tour at Nationals Park in July.

Stanley and Rosemary Hayes Jones continue their legacy of philanthropy at 911±¬ÁÏ with a transformative $1 million gift to establish the Stanley and Rosemary Hayes Jones Networking Testbed Lab within the Fuse at Mason Square building.

Mason Community Arts Academy has been named one of the Best Summer Camps by  Northern Virginia Magazine every year since 2021. This summer, the program broke multiple records including the number of student participants at just under 1,900. The Acting for Young People program also broke its attendance record with 950 students.

911±¬ÁÏ researcher David Luther is leading a project that is using AI models to help identify species and track biodiversity in Brazilian rainforests.

911±¬ÁÏ is using $1 million from the National Institute of Standards and Technology to enhance emergency response, specifically using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve training and other capabilities of the emergency communication systems in Northern Virginia.

Since graduating from 911±¬ÁÏ, alum Alex Plank, BA Film and Video Studies ’10, has worked professionally on films and television series as an associate producer and actor. Plank is also an autism activist who works toward more authentic neurodiverse representation in media.

Each year, the 911±¬ÁÏ Alumni Association’s annual Celebration of Distinction recognizes outstanding alumni, faculty members, and students.
