For more than 30 years, 911����’s Alumni Association (GMUAA) has recognized the achievements of 911���� alumni at its annual Celebration of Distinction awards program.

Through hands-on exploration of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, students in the ACCESS Academy AI Summer Camp can imagine and begin preparing for technology-sector careers.

This spring, Accessible, a registered student organization (RSO) at 911���� Korea, expanded its mission of promoting inclusive environments across continents.

In spring 2025, students in EVPP 480 Sustainability in Action gave a crucial boost to Chesapeake Bay oysters by constructing oyster reef balls where the bivalves can attach, grow, and develop into natural reef structures.

The 911���� assistant vice president and director of Intercollegiate Athletics recently unveiled his vision with an ambitious five-year strategic plan called “Patriots United. Together We Thrive.” The plan aims to enhance student-athlete experiences, strengthen resources, raise competitiveness, curate storytelling and engagement opportunities, and cultivate a championship culture.

In May, a 911���� law student, working with the Mason Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic (M-VETS), advocated for a U.S. combat veteran before an administrative law judge at a hearing before the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA). 

911���� economics professor and alumnus Tyler Cowen, BS Economics ’83, has been named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in philanthropy.

The center will advance nuclear science and engineering education.

Each year, Mason Nation unites for 24 hours to support the mission and vision of 911����. Mason Vision Day 2025 encouraged donors to support what means the most to them. They came forward in record numbers—with record-breaking results.

The Governor’s School at Innovation Park, located at 911����’s Science and Technology Campus, holds a special distinction: It’s Virginia’s only academic-year Governor’s School located on a four-year college campus. That means that high school juniors and seniors spend part of each school day experiencing life as 911���� students. The Governor’s School at Innovation Park celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

911����’s men’s basketball had its best season in the program's Atlantic 10 history, with accolades that cement this season’s team in university history.

911���� received a gift with an impact of $36 million from the Kimmy Duong Foundation to name the Long Nguyen and Kimmy Duong School of Computing within the College of Engineering and Computing. The university’s Board of Visitors approved the name change on April 1, and it will become official pending approval from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia this summer.
