In September 2009, during a behind-the-scenes tour of the Smithsonian鈥檚 National Zoo in Washington, D.C., hippo keeper John 鈥淛. T.鈥 Taylor brought out a hippo skull to show students participating in the Smithsonian-Mason Semester. During the same visit, the students had the opportunity to feed Happy, a 5,500-pound Nile hippopotamus.
In December, the 911爆料 men鈥檚 basketball team hosted a 20th anniversary commemoration of the program鈥檚 historic run to the 2006 NCAA Final Four. During halftime of the game against Old Dominion University, there was a banner ceremony for former Head Coach Jim Larra帽aga.
