As the weather cools off, fall is the perfect time to explore the outdoors. 911���� offers students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to get outside and form connections with others in the Mason community through the Outdoor Adventures program, part of Mason Recreation.

The 911���� community gathered Sept. 28 to celebrate the launch of the university’s largest comprehensive campaign in its history, Mason Now: Power the Possible. The event at Merten Hall was dedicated to the people who work every day to drive Mason’s success: the university’s faculty and staff.

On Friday, Sept. 29, 911���� welcomed more than 70 emergency management professionals from federal, state, local, and higher education organizations throughout the mid-Atlantic.

Kyin (Jenny) Thi, personnel operations analyst in the Office of the Provost, is October Employee of the Month.

As employer engagement consultant with University Career Services at 911����, Jneva Norfleet connects organizations with qualified talent from Mason, helping Mason students and graduates achieve their career goals. Outside work, Norfleet hones other talents of her own—she is a Toastmasters champion and a spoken word artist who shares her poetry to inspire others.

After attending university-wide Mason Chooses Kindness events at 911����, colleagues in the School of Business saw an opportunity to apply the same principles within their unit. This “goodwill team” highlights and encourages acts of kindness and well-being across the school.

Olga O’Brien started her journey at 911���� as an international student from Prague on a volleyball scholarship. As a student, she started working as a part-time volleyball instructor at the Freedom Center in 1999—the year the center first opened. And she has been there ever since.
