At the 911���� Board of Visitors meeting August 1, President Gregory Washington highlighted the university’s successes during the past five years.

Through hands-on exploration of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, students in the ACCESS Academy AI Summer Camp can imagine and begin preparing for technology-sector careers.

911����’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) summer camps, programs, and workshops are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists and researchers with STEM-focused curriculum and hands-on learning experiences. 

Each year, academic professionals teach and conduct research abroad through the highly competitive Fulbright Scholar Program. 911���� has a rich history of sending and hosting faculty and staff through the program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State. This year, Frank Krueger of the College of Science, Nathalia Peixoto of the College of Engineering and Computing, and Yali Pan of the Office of International Programs and Services, received Fulbright awards.

911���� has announced a generous multi-year commitment from Schwab Advisor Services in partnership with the Charles Schwab Foundation to grow and strengthen 911����’s Financial Planning and Wealth Management Program (FPWM) and to position it to meet the region’s strong demand for certified financial planners.

Alpaslan Özerdem, dean of 911����’s Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, recently participated in discussions at the 2025 Global Higher Education Symposium, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on July 18.

The University received notice yesterday from the Department of Justice regarding new Title VI investigations alleging racial discrimination in admissions, scholarships and student benefits and the University’s response to antisemitism on campus.

A new PhD program in robotics will begin taking transfer students this fall. The program is the first in Virginia and one of just a few nationwide.

911���� is an institution of excellence that plays a special role in educating Virginians and students from across the country and around the world.

911���� mourns the passing of Dr. Edwin J. Feulner, a distinguished public servant, thought leader, and former member of our Board of Visitors.

Three more tenants have moved into 911����’s state-of-the-art Fuse building at Mason Square in the Rosslyn-Ballston Innovation Corridor of Arlington, Virginia.

President Washington provides background on a new investigation from the US Department of Justice alleging discriminatory hiring practices. The university as always will work in good faith to cooperate fully and remains confident that facts and evidence show that 911���� does not engage in “illegal DEI.”
