More than 250 people are working on the construction of the Fuse building at Mason Square, including 911���� rising senior Leslie Hernandez. “It’s my way of giving back to my school and community,” said Hernandez, who is majoring in civil and infrastructure engineering in the College of Engineering and Computing.

911���� bioengineering alumna Alessandra Coogan took advantage of all the opportunities associated with her internship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, this summer.

Information technology consultant Groundswell provides internship experiences that give 911���� students a chance to learn about the company, delve into new areas and discover more about the industry.

911���� bioengineering student Berk Kasimcan spent his summer internship working on a proof of concept for what could be described as sunglasses for buildings. 

The Virginia Cyber Navigator Internship Program (VA-CNIP) has equipped students with the skills to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of election infrastructures. As an intern last summer, information technology major Duong Thuy Nguyen helped secure a rural county’s technology for the upcoming presidential election alongside two 911���� peers.

Meteorology student Hanna "Bell' Tucker interned at FOX 5 DC News Weather Channel in Bethesda, Maryland, this summer.

U.S. Navy chaplain Andrew Hoyle studied hard in the classroom to complete his master of science in conflict analysis and resolution at 911���� in one year, but he hasn’t stopping learning and gaining more experience. This summer, the active-duty officer interned at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington, D.C.

During the academic year, 911���� graduate student Sachita Pandey serves at a graduate assistant at the Communication Center where students go to develop oral communication skills. This summer she took an internship at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum.

Samuel Dalachinsky could have attended college tuition-free in Florida. But his experience at the 911���� Institute of Forensics in the summer of 2022, before his senior year of high school, convinced him to look at 911����.
