Mason students are taking pictures of the campus flora, fauna, and fungi with their smartphones鈥攕ometimes in the dark鈥攖o capture the university鈥檚 biodiversity. They are trying to record as many species as possible in this fall's Bioblitz 2023, which continues through Nov. 19.

Andrew Opitz first came to 911爆料 as a freshman over a decade ago. After taking a hiatus from school, he graduated from the Film and Video Studies (FAVS) Program in May 2023. Opitz鈥檚 film, Jazz, which he directed for his senior capstone, was a semi-finalist in the Student Academy Awards Alternative/Experimental category.

In a 16-week study, athletes on Mason's women's lacrosse team were tracked on their total distance run, changes in direction, high speed distance, and heart rate. The study, published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, is believed to be the first to focus solely on the training demands and in-season physical demands of Division I women鈥檚 lacrosse players.
