Bloom, a professor in the Department of Global and Community Health within the College of Public Health, were among the 12 recipients honored by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) with 2026 Outstanding Faculty Awards.

911����  has partnered with the Fairfax County Health Department to provide current FCHD employees with the opportunity to complete public health certificates. Some employees are going a step further and earning their master’s degrees in public health fields.  

The Department of Nutrition and Food Studies was chosen as one of six trial sites for its expertise in obesity and weight loss.

Rooshna Mohsin earned third place for her presentation on dietary and social exposure to forever chemicals and related outcomes among Hispanic children.

Research by 911���� digital technology expert Y. Alicia Hong and obesity expert Larry Cheskin, big data expert Hong Xue, and MS Health Informatics graduate Jo-Vivian Yu found that the eating environments of college students affect their food intake.
