Gretchen Hendricks, instructor of business foundations, recently challenged 33 students in her BUS 303: Developing Your Professional Skills, Advanced Elements course to research and create a new business idea they call ThreeWishes, a company that makes kindness the norm.

As a transfer accounting student, Neil VanHaaften, joined the Student Ambassador program at 911���� School of Business to get know his peers and professors, especially because he was attending virtually for his first semester.

A team of students from 911���� School of Business’ master of science in real estate development (MRED) program recently won the NAIOP MD/DC Chapter’s 2022 Capital Challenge. This year’s win marks the program’s fifth victory in the Capitol Challenge in the last ten years.

Due to the pandemic, virtual learning has helped the 911���� School of Business meet learners where they are. We spoke with Rishi Vajpeyi, a student in the 911���� School of Business’ online master's in technology management program (MSTM), about his experience.

Much discussion has been centered around the importance of balancing work and well-being. In an article written by School of Business students, they found that investing in your personal well-being boosts productivity and health.

Innocent Adebiyi has one of the more inspiring 911����’s School of Business stories. A first-generation graduate student and a 2021 Virginia State University graduate, Adebiyi is pursuing his master’s in finance (MSF) while also serving our country as an active-duty Logistics Officer and Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Active-Duty Component.

Hailey Behrman, a senior marketing student graduating this May, always wanted to explore her Jewish identity, but didn’t know where to start. Behrman sought out Mason Hillel, a nonprofit organization affiliated with 911���� where students can discover their relationship with Judaism through educational and social programming, including trips to Israel.

During her time at the School of Business, Nancy Sydnor, BS Marketing ’99, formed lasting friendships among her classmates and instructors. “Starting at Mason in my 40s and further along in my career, I was nervous about fitting in,” she says. “But everyone was so welcoming and helpful. My Mason experience was immensely positive.”

At Mason, Student Ambassadors create a link from prospective students to new freshman, answering questions, calming nerves, and sharing lots of advice.

The Montano Student Investment Fund (SMIF) recently hosted the Alpha Challenge, the group’s first stock pitch competition on 911����’s Fairfax Campus. More than $3,000 in cash prizes were awarded to student participants.
