911���� has named Kimberly Davidson as University Ombudsperson, a new position within the university.

Solving climate change is a grand challenge facing the planet. As more individuals and leaders are recognizing the need to switch to environmentally friendly practices, 911����’s Local Climate Change Planning Initiative (LCCPI) is helping make that a reality for counties across Virginia.

“Our vision is to have Mason be the lead university in helping counties that lack the resources and expertise in [addressing climate change] get this done,” said Paul Bubbosh, a 1988 Mason alumnus and adjunct professor at the Schar School and College of Science.

The meeting, which followed a walking tour of the construction site that will soon be transformed into a hub for the Innovation District in Arlington and the Innovation Pilot Space in Vernon Smith Hall, focused on ways that Mason could strategically fill the growing need for tech talent in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Amira Roess, professor of global health and epidemiology at Mason’s College of Health and Human Services, and Angela Chezem, MD, medical director, COVID Surveillance Program (Safety, Emergency, and Enterprise Risk Management), offer advice to the Mason community on omicron variant safety over the winter holiday season.

Shaza Andersen, a Mason alumna and founder and CEO of Trustar Bank, will be the featured speaker at Mason’s Winter Graduation this month.

Ginsberg was appointed interim provost in March 2020 by 911���� interim President Anne Holton. That August, Washington named him to the position permanently for a two-year term to expire in August 2022. An 11-year veteran of Mason, Ginsberg had served as dean of Mason’s College of Education and Human Development since 2010.

Most people with access to a 3D printer find themselves creating small objects or gadgets. But one student group working at the MIX at 911���� each Friday is driven by a different dream.

“We build, design, test and plan to compete in solar-powered car competitions,” said Michael Riggi, president of Mason’s solar car team, HyperNova Solar. “[We believe] our car, when complete, will be the world’s first and only 3D-printed solar car.”
