Graduate students are such an interesting group because of the diversity of perspectives that they bring to the table. Our students range in age from 21 to 60+, so there’s always something to learn from them. I also absolutely love it when I hear them talk about how they have been able to apply what they learned in the classroom to their jobs, or how they have leveraged the network they gain by joining the program to find a new job.&nbsp;</span></p> <h4><span><strong>What do you like to do when you’re not working:&nbsp;</strong></span></h4> <p><span>I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading, playing ultimate frisbee, and spending time with friends and family.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> </div> </div> </div> <div data-block-plugin-id="field_block:node:news_release:field_content_topics" class="block block-layout-builder block-field-blocknodenews-releasefield-content-topics"> <h2>Topics</h2> <div class="field field--name-field-content-topics field--type-entity-reference field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">Topics</div> <div class="field__items"> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/206" hreflang="en">Faculty and Staff News</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/1516" hreflang="en">Employee of the Month</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/1061" hreflang="en">Costello College of Business</a></div> <div class="field__item"><a href="/taxonomy/term/17671" hreflang="en">Human Resources</a></div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> Fri, 01 May 2026 14:13:15 +0000 ckearney 345803 at Meet the 911 senior changing breast cancer research /news/2026-03/meet-george-mason-senior-changing-breast-cancer-research <span>Meet the 911 senior changing breast cancer research </span> <span><span>Katarina Benson</span></span> <span><time datetime="2026-03-03T11:40:18-05:00" title="Tuesday, March 3, 2026 - 11:40">Tue, 03/03/2026 - 11:40</time> </span> <div class="layout layout--gmu layout--twocol-section layout--twocol-section--30-70"> <div class="layout__region region-first"> </div> <div class="layout__region region-second"> <div data-block-plugin-id="field_block:node:news_release:body" class="block block-layout-builder block-field-blocknodenews-releasebody"> <div class="field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-visually_hidden"> <div class="field__label visually-hidden">Body</div> <div class="field__item"><p class="Paragraph SCXW245133067 BCX0"><span class="TextRun SCXW245133067 BCX0 NormalTextRun intro-text" lang="EN-US">In January, 911 senior Angela Victoria Rojas Rivera, </span><a href="https://science.gmu.edu/academics/departments-units/biology/medical-laboratory-science-bs"><span class="TextRun SCXW245133067 BCX0 NormalTextRun intro-text" lang="EN-US">Medical Laboratory Science</span></a><span class="TextRun SCXW245133067 BCX0 NormalTextRun intro-text" lang="EN-US"> major, represented the university at the National Collegiate Research Conference (NCRC).
