Last year, Fall for the Book’s annual Writers in the School series reached nearly 1,200 K-12 students in the Fairfax County Public Schools with their Writers in the School series. The program, organized by the 911±¬ÁÏ-based festival, is designed to introduce students to authors and encourage interest in reading and writing.

An open house at Fuse at Mason Square offered an exciting glimpse into the future for 911±¬ÁÏ’s ACCESS Academy, complete with robotics demonstrations and hands-on technology experiences. Behind the buzz and energy was a deeper message: Through a collaborative partnership with Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), ACCESS Academy freshmen will take their first college course this spring, an opportunity rarely available to ninth-grade students.

New offerings and a healthy dose of competition leave campers happily humming along.

This summer, 911±¬ÁÏ hosted the Pathways to Quantum Immersion Program, preparing high school students for careers in the rapidly emerging field of quantum science.

In her first year of teaching, Emmeline Mejia, MEd ’24, has already earned one of Fairfax County Public Schools' top honors: 2025 Outstanding New Secondary Teacher of the Year. It's a milestone that speaks volumes about her passion for education and her commitment to multilingual learners at Justice High School in Falls Church, Virginia.

With the support of a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) training grant, 911±¬ÁÏ researchers are working to integrate comprehensive school-based mental health systems as part of proactive violence prevention programming in public middle schools in Prince William County, Virginia.
